Julia Markos, Interior Designer

“My taste and interest in interiors developed in my childhood under the influence of my grandmother and mother – they designed our lives with extraordinary subtlety. In the apartments of my childhood were full of antiques, beautiful fabrics, elegant cutlery and flowers. My first interior “project” was a doll house: it was located on a shelf my mother gave me. It’s amazing that over time interiors became my profession,” says the designer. Julia graduated from the art department of the State University of Tourism and Services. Her first professional projects were exhibitions, showrooms and beauty parlours. The first full-fledged interior project was the design of Julia’s own house near Moscow – it was published and started a chain of commissions. “I can be called a “family” designer – I often do several projects for the same clients, working with different generations of the family.” An important stage in building Markos’ career was participation in Russian television projects “Apartment Question” and “Dacha Answer”, which made Julia widely popular.

Julia is a very flexible professional and can work in different interior styles. However, her special forte are classical projects with rich textures, valuable materials, and an abundance of antiques. “Most of my projects were classical, and I thoroughly know how to make the traditional style not only cozy and warm, but also light, lively and fresh.” It is also important to note that Julia is a versatile and gifted artist — she paints and draws, most of her design sketches are hand-drawn. Creativity and incredible elaboration of every detail make every Julia’s project unique.

For more than twenty years of work in the profession, Julia created dozens of interiors, from small apartments to large-scale hotel complexes. “The most important thing for me is not my interior “efforts”, but the person for whom I work. My task is to create a house in which people will be happy. And I know exactly how to achieve this in each and every case”.
